NY POLICE DEFENSIVE TACTICS INSTRUCTOR'S ENDORSEMENT

Authentic GUIDED CHAOS (Ki Chuan Do-KCD) can only be learned from an instructor certified to teach it by John Perkins. Guided Chaos has a unique and distinct feel and we know from experience it is very easy to set your growth back many years by learning from an unauthorized instructor.

In our classes, we take your personal development seriously and never just "throw you to the wolves." You get personal attention, even in group classes, that is unmatched by any self defense school, anywhere. Listed below are the only certified Guided Chaos schools in the world.

GUIDED CHAOS is a new martial art and self-defense teaching system that promotes exponential learning in both beginner and advanced students. It is based on concepts from Native American fighting, Combat Tai Chi, and ancient European/American Close quarters combat.

Unique drills, exercises and principles cover everything from Awareness and avoidance to hand-to-hand and weapons training. Anti-mugging, rape and car-jacking material as well as knife, gun and club defenses are presented along with anecdotal real life stories by John Perkins. The versatility of Guided Chaos means that you can get a good low-impact aerobic workout and develop effective fighting skills without having to be an Olympic athlete. While no previous training is necessary for learning Guided Chaos, John Perkins has a reputation for teaching Black Belts how to fight better. In addition, classes cover:

Basic Close Combat: learn a simple and highly effective method of self-defense devised for United States soldiers in World War II and used in thousands of documented police and military conflicts. Close Combat modifies the unique Hand to Hand concepts developed by Colonel Rex Applegate, William Donovan and members of the OSS that were devised because of a perceived inadequacy in our troops' Hand to Hand training. The prospect of confronting Japanese Soldiers in the jungle skilled in Judo and Karate led to a training overhaul by our own military in the late 1930's that resulted in a system of simple, devastating attacks used successfully by U.S. soldiers during countless close engagements against Japanese troops in World War II.

While you are learning Close Combat, John Perkins' unique "Guided Chaos" principles supercharge your training through methods of natural motion that free your body and mind to fight effectively during the unchoreographed chaos that characterizes every real life and death struggle. GUIDED CHAOS goes beyond the call of basic Close Combat.

Ex-cop and former forensic homicide investigator John Perkins is a jovial, sensitive, non-conformist and he uses that approach to teach you a deadly serious art that involves training both your nervous system and physical responses...and have fun doing it. Everyone gets individual attention and learns at their own pace. Classes are always open for newcomers to watch or participate in.

"Guided Chaos is a true link between
Internal and External Martial Arts."

Bob Miller has been studying various styles of martial arts since he was 15 years old, including Shaolin Kung Fu, American Kenpo, Chinese Kenpo and Dragon Kenpo (in which he holds a 2nd degree black belt). As a Correctional Officer for over ten years, he also has had training in verbal judo, defensive tactics, riot control, hostage rescue, lethal and less-lethal tactics, ammunitions, suicide prevention, first-aid, firearms usage, crime scene preservation and investigation, and cell extraction. He is a prior member of the Security Threat Group Team (gang task force), Correctional Emergency Response Team, and a Field Training Officer.

About six years ago he stumbled upon John Perkins' web site, while searching for a superior method of self-defense. He was immediately sold on Close Combat Karate and its principles. It took approximately 3 years for him to realize the full effectiveness of the Ki Chuan Do (Guided Chaos) principles and drills, which he has been teaching to law enforcement officers at his home since 2003. As Correctional Officers, Bob and his students have been able to apply the principles of KCD in numerous work-related situations. They are more capable of confidently maintaining control of hostile situations and defending themselves and others.

Bob initially studied Guided Chaos by reading "Attack Proof", watching the Companion DVD's and videos, and corresponding via E-mail with John Perkins' team. He recently trained with, and was ranked by, Guided Chaos founder Perkins in New York as a 2nd degree black belt in Guided Chaos, a 2nd degree black belt in Close Combat Karate, and a certified teacher of Guided Chaos. You can see Bob in the New York Times feature on John Perkins and Guided Chaos.
